Frequently Asked Questions

Take a look at some frequently asked questions about our residential doors.

Can you replace the glass in our front doors?

Yes, it is possible to replace the glass in the front door. However, in order to maintain the thermal performance and security, you should aim to replace the glazing like for like with the original. To do this, we recommend using glass panels of an equal standard.

How do I know if my front door has good energy performance?

The U value is the rate at which heat is transferred through your door. The lower the U value, the warmer the door.

Do I need permission to install a new residential door?

Most properties do not need planning permission to install a new door. However, if your property is located near a listed building or conservation area, approval might be required. We recommend contacting your local council to double-check.

What's the difference between a composite door and a uPVC door?

Composite doors are made with multiple materials that have been bonded together in layers, such as timber and plastics. While composite doors offer outstanding durability and security, uPVC is a popular and affordable option.

How can I tell if a door is fire rated?

An easy way to check is to look for a certification label indicating the fire resistance level, which is typically found on the door’s edge. FD30 means 30 minutes of protection, and FB60 means 60 minutes of protection.

How can the security of a front door be improved?

Our residential front doors come with a 10 point locking system, which is the first of its kind. Whether you’re in Oxford or Cheltenham, homeowners will get exceptional security levels.
